ppc64 done
Comment 2 Agostino Sarubbo gentoo-dev 2010-10-30 15:33:35 UTC
on amd64 ok
Comment 3 Mart Raudsepp gentoo-dev 2010-10-30 16:02:30 UTC
This may NOT be stabilized yet due to it dropping .la files, which is not allowed for stable packages yet.
Comment 4 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-10-30 16:17:54 UTC
It's pretty much required to fix bad interaction between consolekit-0.4.2, and .la files don't block anything
Comment 5 Mart Raudsepp gentoo-dev 2010-10-30 16:26:35 UTC
Then make a revision that doesn't drop .la files. I believe it is disallowed to drop further such .la files for stable packages by council decision until the global plan commences.
It amazes me how much you hate our users.
Comment 6 Matthew Turnbull 2010-10-30 16:39:54 UTC
As I mentioned in bug 343251, dbus-1.2.24-r1 or -r2 would be sufficient to fix the consolekit interoperability problems. Stabilize one of those, then figure out what you're going to do with dbus-1.4.0.

no point in stabling old versions, 1.4.0 is fine
Comment 8 Jorge Manuel B. S. Vicetto (RETIRED) Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev 2010-10-30 18:20:38 UTC
As was discussed in last council's decision, please hold this stabilization until we reach an agreement.
Comment 9 Markos Chandras (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-10-31 20:09:32 UTC
Then remove the arches to avoid further confusion

There is no need to punish stable users while it's being 'discussed (to death)' on ML. Stabilization should proceed meanwhile.
Comment 11 Mart Raudsepp gentoo-dev 2010-10-31 21:21:23 UTC
Then don't punish them and make a revision that doesn't remove .la files - to not need to wait. Removing arches from CC meanwhile.

It's been over a week. Has there been any progress?

If Samuli is still being a stick in the mud about this, can another developer make the change?

I know that's typically a no-no, but given the circumstances, I think it's justified. Holding up the fix, to the actual problem, due to one developer's obstinate about following policy (or not stabilizing an older version) is unacceptable.
Comment 14 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-12-19 04:12:29 UTC
... and now sys-auth/consolekit-0.4.3 should go stable to fix VT_WAITEVENT regressions (bug 349052). dbus-glib is required from here to proceed.

Testing on SPARC, sys-apps/dbus 1.4.0 passed all its tests, and dev-libs/dbus-glib-0.88 failed 1 of 2 tests (run-test.sh failed but run-peer-test.sh passed).

Might be OK for stabilisation though.
