Leaving of old, unmaintained and unsupported versions is a bad idea. If ppc team doesn't want to actively stabilize new versions of SIP etc., then all versions of dev-util/eric could be destabilized on ppc.

No because we will keep old and unmaintained versions of sip and PyQt4 as well. We can't force stable keywords for these arches, and dropping stable keywords is a bad idea imho

dev-util/eric-4.4.8 will be stabilized in bug #341523.
