It is a warning is all. It is there to give other apps/users of the portage API an indication that something has changed and time to change to use the new method/function. Otherwise things would break all of a sudden. Eventually it will be removed along with the old function that has been replaced. So, nothing to worry about. Apparently the portage API is still using these functions internally in a way that triggers these warnings. I'll have to comb the source code and fix them. (In reply to comment #3) > Same problem here, it seems to have something to do with layman. > If I remove "source /var/lib/layman/make.conf" in make.conf it works flawless. > Upgrading to the unstable portage 2.1.7.17 removed the DeprecationWarning for me. I now have Portage 2.1.7.17 (default/linux/amd64/10.0/desktop, gcc-4.3.4, glibc-2.10.1-r1, 2.6.32-gentoo x86_64) Is it possible that the warnings are due to having an installed portage that accepts EAPI=2 (2.1.7.17 accepts EAPI=3) and also having installed packages from a layman overlay that require EAPI=3? So this issue appears to be caused by an EAPI=3 package appearing as an upgrade candidate with stable portage. I had app-portage/eix in my package.keywords since the stable version blocks xz-utils. 0.20.0 uses EAPI=3 and is masked thusly. Changing the app-portage/eix line in package.keywords to <app-portage/eix-0.20 makes the warnings go away. In svn r15392 I've added stacklevel=2 to the warnings.warn() parameters so that we'll be able to see the caller. *** Bug 306045 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** (In reply to comment #4 from Brian) > Hey guys. It is a warning is all. I'm aware of this, but since I check for updates daily and mail the output, it's an annoying warning. And piping stderr to null is a workaround I don't want to leave there for too long - thus the bug report. As portage 2.1.7.17 was just stabilised with support for EAPI 3, the warnings have (unsurprisingly) ceased after an update. |
