It looks like you tried with an out-of-date version, this should have been fixed on Jan 3rd, see bug 298468.

indeed, an emerge --sync helped. thanks for the pointer, x86 keyword added.

dev-ruby/sqlite3-ruby has no *-fbsd keyword, nothing to do here unless some user expresses some interest in it, closing.
