What versions of boost you have emerged ? What does 'eselect boost' prints ? (In reply to comment #1) > What versions of boost you have emerged ? > What does 'eselect boost' prints ? > I have run into this bug. I just upgraded to glibc-2.10.1 and gcc-4.4.2 and I am running emerge -e world. Inkscape failed with exactly this error. ~> eix -Ic boost [I] app-admin/eselect-boost (0.3@11/07/2009): boost module for eselect [I] dev-libs/boost (1.35.0-r5@11/07/2009): Boost Libraries for C++ [I] dev-util/boost-build (1.35.0-r2@11/07/2009): A system for large project software construction, which is simple to use and powerful. ~> eselect boost list Available boost versions: [1] boost-1.35/default * USE for dev-libs/boost: Installed versions: 1.35.0-r5(03:26:07 PM 11/07/2009)(eselect python tools -doc -expat -icu -mpi -test) USE for boost-build: Installed versions: 1.35.0-r2(07:14:00 AM 11/07/2009)(python -examples) ~> emerge --info Portage 2.2_rc48 (default/linux/amd64/10.0/desktop, gcc-4.4.2, glibc-2.10.1-r0, 2.6.31-zen4 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: Linux-2.6.31-zen4-x86_64-Intel-R-_Core-TM-2_Duo_CPU_T7100_@_1.80GHz-with-gentoo-2.0.1 Timestamp of tree: Sat, 07 Nov 2009 02:30:01 +0000 app-shells/bash: 4.0_p28 dev-lang/python: 2.6.2-r1 dev-util/cmake: 2.6.4-r3 sys-apps/baselayout: 2.0.1 sys-apps/openrc: 0.4.3-r4 sys-apps/sandbox: 2.2 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.63-r1 sys-devel/automake: 1.7.9-r1, 1.9.6-r2, 1.10.2 sys-devel/binutils: 2.18-r3 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.4.1 sys-devel/libtool: 2.2.6a virtual/os-headers: 2.6.30-r1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64" CBUILD="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=native -O2 -pipe" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/share/config /usr/share/xsessions" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/ca-certificates.conf /etc/env.d /etc/fonts/fonts.conf /etc/gconf /etc/gentoo-release /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/sandbox.d /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/language.dat.d /etc/texmf/language.def.d /etc/texmf/updmap.d /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/udev/rules.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=native -O2 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS="--with-bdeps=y" FEATURES="assume-digests distlocks fixpackages news parallel-fetch preserve-libs protect-owned sandbox sfperms strict unmerge-logs unmerge-orphans userfetch" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://mirror.umoss.org/gentoo http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu ftp://gentoo.mirrors.pair.com http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" LANG="en_US.UTF-8" LC_ALL="en_US.UTF-8" LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed" LINGUAS="en en_US" MAKEOPTS="-j4" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_CONFIGROOT="/" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --stats --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/portage/local/layman/enlightenment /usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X a52 aac accessibility acl acpi alsa amd64 bash-completion berkdb branding bzip2 cairo cdda cdr cli consolekit cracklib crypt cups curl curlwrappers dbus djvu dri dts dvd dvdr encode exif fam fbcon ffmpeg flac fontconfig fuse gdbm gif gnutls gphoto2 gpm gtk hal iconv ieee1394 jpeg kde lame lcms ldap mad mmap mmx mmx2 mng modules mp3 mp4 mpeg mudflap multilib musepack musicbrainz ncurses nls nptl nptlonly ogg opengl openmp oss pam pch pcmcia pcre pdf perl plasma png ppds pppd python qt3support qt4 quicktime readline reflection savedconfig sdl session smp speex spell spl sqlite srt sse sse2 ssl ssse3 startup-notification svg sysfs taglib tcpd theora threads thunar tiff truetype unicode usb vdpau vim-syntax vorbis wmf x264 xattr xcb xcf xcomposite xft xine xinerama xml xorg xosd xpm xulrunner xv xvid xvmc yv12 zeroconf zlib zsh-completion" ALSA_CARDS="hda-intel" ALSA_PCM_PLUGINS="adpcm alaw asym copy dmix dshare dsnoop empty extplug file hooks iec958 ioplug ladspa lfloat linear meter mmap_emul mulaw multi null plug rate route share shm softvol" APACHE2_MODULES="actions alias auth_basic authn_alias authn_anon authn_dbm authn_default authn_file authz_dbm authz_default authz_groupfile authz_host authz_owner authz_user autoindex cache dav dav_fs dav_lock deflate dir disk_cache env expires ext_filter file_cache filter headers include info log_config logio mem_cache mime mime_magic negotiation rewrite setenvif speling status unique_id userdir usertrack vhost_alias" CAMERAS="*" ELIBC="glibc" INPUT_DEVICES="keyboard mouse evdev synaptics" KERNEL="linux" LCD_DEVICES="bayrad cfontz cfontz633 glk hd44780 lb216 lcdm001 mtxorb ncurses text" LINGUAS="en en_US" USERLAND="GNU" VIDEO_CARDS="nvidia nv vesa" Unset: CPPFLAGS, CTARGET, FFLAGS, INSTALL_MASK, PORTAGE_COMPRESS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS FYI, dev-python/lxml-2.2.2 has also failed to emerge (http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=292269). inkscape is the only package which depends on lxml. If 'eselect boost set 1' prints errors about symlinks being files (or similar), then solution of your problem would be going into /usr/lib, removing unversioned boost libs (unversioned should be symlinks) and calling 'eselect boost set 1' once you're done. (In reply to comment #3) > If 'eselect boost set 1' prints errors > about symlinks being files (or similar), > then solution of your problem would be > going into /usr/lib, removing unversioned > boost libs (unversioned should be symlinks) > and calling 'eselect boost set 1' once you're done. > Thank you! Doing that actually removed some dead symlinks by itself: ~> eselect boost set 1 Removing symlinks from old version Creating symlinks for boost-1.35/default media-gfx/inkscape-0.46-r5 emerged correctly after this step.
