Gentoo, as one of the most rapidly growing distros, certainly has attracted a
number of individuals very keen on advertising, and "spreading the word." As
such, I propose the addition of a USE variable - "gentoo". This variable
would allow for ebuilds to include overt and blatant advertising.
(Incidentally, I suggest this variable be turned off by default. :)

For starters, I have included some updates to the mutt-1.3.28-r1 and
evolution-1.0.5 ebuilds. The evolution one consists of a patch and an updated
ebuild, and the mutt ebuild consists of an extra line in src_install. These
add X-Headers to all outgoing e-mail messages that say: X-OS: Gentoo
GNU/Linux www.gentoo.org . I've got these ebuilds running and working on my
system.

I had also intended to include a patch for the *very* nice kernel logos at
http://gentoo.tkdack.com/ , but Seemant says that TaD is working on a kernel
menu option.

Again, this is for *overt advertisement* - it's something that, imo, should be
turned off by default. :)

this does not seem to be something that excites most of the developers. sorry
about that. However, you may want to post your modifications to the gentoo forums.
