Please don't use git to download releases! This creates quite a bit of problems to users behind proxies, sidesteps security measures in Gentoo and a longer list still of problems.

Given that the thing uses github which _provides a download service to get tarballs out of the repository_ I see no point at all to use git directly.

If this is not taken care of in two weeks, I'll be masking all the ebuilds as live ebuilds.
