Please head over to http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/qa/backtraces.xml and rebuild gnome-terminal (and probably a few other libs such as vte) to get a backtrace of some sort. Thanks Rebuilt these packages: x11-terms/gnome-terminal debug x11-libs/vte debug gnome-base/gconf debug dev-libs/dbus-glib debug x11-libs/libSM debug This is the backtrace that I obtained: (gdb) bt #0 0xb8053424 in __kernel_vsyscall () #1 0xb711e980 in raise () from /lib/libc.so.6 #2 0xb71201c8 in abort () from /lib/libc.so.6 #3 0xb742a6ed in g_assertion_message () from /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0 #4 0x085ed9a0 in ?? () #5 0x00000000 in ?? () USE=debug doesn't enable debugging symbols (we're working on getting rid of USE=debug...). Please read again the link I posted earlier. You need to change your CFLAGS and FEATURES env vars for debugging symbols to work. Thanks Well, changing the use flags and rebuilding gnome-terminal and vte produced exactly the same backtrace (maybe the debug use flag does work). Anyway, since the last bt message concerned glib, I rebuilt that and here is the complete backtrace from gdb after that. rahul@googly ~ $ gdb /usr/bin/gnome-terminal GNU gdb 6.8 Copyright (C) 2008 Free Software Foundation, Inc. Rahul, could you emerge libgnome and see if the problem goes away? + 06 Sep 2009; Gilles Dartiguelongue <eva@gentoo.org> + -gnome-terminal-2.26.1.ebuild, gnome-terminal-2.26.2.ebuild, + gnome-terminal-2.26.3.1-r1.ebuild: + Add libgnome to RDEPEND, bug #274638. Added without a bump, thanks for reporting. |
