There has been reports of previous versions failing with missing DEFINES file and invalid syntax in pkg-config file.

What you should look out for is result of "pkg-config --libs openal" output being correct:

# pkg-config --libs openal
-lopenal

If you get the same result, please consider marking this version stable. You can use USE=openal in mplayer from command line "mplayer -ao openal <filename>.mp3" to test playback.
