Fetchlog-0.94 ebuild displays the last new messages of a logfile. 

Features include: 

It can be asked to show certain messages depending on your bookmark file. For
instance, you can enable kernel debug messages in syslog and pipe them to a new
bookmark file, which can be used to compare against the overall kernel logs.  

It can also be used together with net-analyzer/nagios to monitor local logs and
generate alerts. To monitor remote logs one will need the 'snmp' use flag.
