It fails to build due to gtk_toolbar_set_tooltips deprecated in 2.14. Full build.log will follow.

For completeness, I should note that this was already fixed in java-gnome's 'mainline', with the specific method removed from the .defs data in revid gmclachl@untitledproject.co.uk-20080914124556-80v87cptf0ofnxwp As for adding the DEPRECATED macros to the compile line, that was adjusted in revid andrew@operationaldynamics.com-20080927054518-sfpzdap6nd5qbdg and so the patch you added to the 4.0.8 ebuild will no longer be required once java-gnome 4.0.9 is released. Removing the blocker on gtk+-2.14 tracker bug, as all versions of java-gnome are OK -- we don't need 4.0.8 to be stabilized before gtk+-2.14, as lower and newer (in the future) are already OK and this one is fixed, so there is no reason to track this for the purpose of gtk+ stabilization time.
