Hmmm... did some previous version work? There seem to be similar issues in old bugreports from xfree/xorg (nx-X11 is just a trimmed down monolithic xorg fork), but all related to parallel make options... Can you post the complete build.log? Also is there a /var/tmp/portage/net-misc/nx-3.2.0-r4/work/nx-X11/include/bitmaps/Makefile file? I am having a similar (likely related) issue. There is no Makefile in the directory you asked about. The Makefile in my install is in /var/tmp/portage/net-misc/nx-3.2.0-r5/work/nx-X11. I can post it if that wouldn't just be clutter. Ok, can you post the output of `emerge -pet nx`? I'd like to compare a few versions Also can you try settings MAKEOPTS in make.conf? "-j1" or something else like "-j2", as this is one of the most prominent differences between your 2 systems (and the problem is a parallel build one). Thanks! Thanks for following up. I tried switching MAKEOPTS to -j1 and disabling distcc and ccache but that did not avoid the error. The results of emerge -pet nx follow. I will try updating items in the tree that need it and see if that eliminates the error. Calculating dependencies... done! sys-apps/portage-2.1.4.5 I've tested nx compilation on my web server (which runs only x86, so close to your setup), and it worked... The emerge output differences are: * only on mine: app-i18n/man-pages-fr-2.39.0 dev-db/sqlite-3.5.9 * only on yours: app-admin/eselect-1.0.10 app-admin/eselect-fontconfig-1.0 media-fonts/encodings-1.0.2 media-fonts/font-alias-1.0.1 media-fonts/font-cursor-misc-1.0.0 media-fonts/font-misc-misc-1.0.0 media-fonts/font-util-1.0.1 media-libs/fontconfig-2.6.0-r2 sys-apps/acl-2.2.47 sys-apps/attr-2.4.41 sys-apps/ed-1.0 sys-apps/file-4.23 sys-apps/tcp-wrappers-7.6-r8 sys-devel/automake-1.9.6-r2 sys-libs/gdbm-1.8.3-r3 sys-libs/gpm-1.20.1-r6 x11-apps/bdftopcf-1.0.0 x11-apps/mkfontdir-1.0.3 x11-apps/mkfontscale-1.0.3 x11-apps/rgb-1.0.1 x11-apps/xauth-1.0.2 x11-apps/xsetroot-1.0.2 x11-libs/libfontenc-1.0.4 x11-libs/libXaw-1.0.4 x11-libs/libXfont-1.3.1-r1 x11-libs/libXmu-1.0.3 x11-libs/libXp-1.0.0 x11-misc/makedepend-1.0.1 x11-misc/xbitmaps-1.0.1 x11-proto/fontcacheproto-0.1.2 x11-proto/fontsproto-2.0.2 x11-proto/printproto-1.0.3 And conflicting: net-misc/vnc-4.1.2-r4 against net-misc/tightvnc-1.3.9-r1 Most of the additional X packages on your list are probably pulled by tightvnc You can try to remerge these packages (better than re-emerging all nx deps): x11-misc/gccmakedep x11-misc/imake and also try with USE=-vnc Also, by any chance, does nx-3.3.0 work? I've just added it to the tree Thanks for your follow-up suggestions. (In reply to comment #5) > You can try to remerge these packages (better than re-emerging all nx deps): > x11-misc/gccmakedep > x11-misc/imake > and also try with USE=-vnc None of these steps eliminated the error. (In reply to comment #6) > Also, by any chance, does nx-3.3.0 work? I've just added it to the tree nx-3.3.0 fails with the same error. Two other modifications you can try: * in nx ebuild, try to add: make Makefiles || die "nx-X11 makefiles creation failed" just before the line: emake World || die "nx-X11 emake failed" (http://www.mail-archive.com/xpert@xfree86.org/msg03419.html) * change "emake World" to "make World" (just to be really sure that no -j command will appear) I've just added net-misc/nx-3.3.0-r1 to the tree, which includes some "backports" from the old xorg-x11 6.9 ebuild (that nx is based on). Please try it as some changes are related to parallel make net-misc/nx-3.3.0-r1 has been stable for a month now, is the problem still present? thanks Looks like this one is fixed now, please reopen if you still have this problem. Marking resolved test-request I have the identical problem, where can I find the ebuild to try to modify it as is recommended. I'm trying to use net-misc/nx version 3.5.0.20 I have the identical problem, where can I find the ebuild to try to modify it as is recommended. I'm trying to use net-misc/nx version 3.5.0.20 |
