Since Enemy Territory has been released in full for free, it'd be nice to have
a
package to install it under Gentoo, rather than downloading and running their
clumsy shell script.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
The release info hasn't hit ID's main page yet, but there's downloads on
fileplanet (http://www.fileplanet.com/files/120000/124801.shtml) as well as a
bittorrent download from ID (http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/BT.html).
As an offshoot, wouldn't it be nice to have bittorrent distribution of Gentoo
files? I think that'd be a neat project... who knows how difficult it'd be to
integrate to the Gentoo mirrors system, though. ;)

Enemy Territory ebuild and files
This is an ebuild for the initial release version (not test) of Enemy
Territory. It also includes a .desktop file for KDE/Gnome integration. It is
100% stable and should be added to portage ASAP. *grin*
Just for further information, don't assign a bug directly to Daniel, but rather
leave it as the default (bug-wranglers) or assign it to games@gentoo.org
I didn't do that assignment actually, bugzilla did it all on it's lonesome. :)
I'll see if I can change it, though.
Also, that was really quick. I heart Gentoo! =)
It just so happens I was already working on one and decided to search for
someone else posting a bug/request before I posted my ebuild. Apparently, it
has a couple bugs, so expect and updated ebuild shortly.

Fixed ebuild and files
This will install cleanly now. Also, if you don't already have the
et-linux-2.55.x86.run file in your ${DISTFILES) directory, good luck. It seems
every mirror containing this happens to be full. I managed to grab it earlier
before the big rush hit.
Try changing the "product" at the top to Gentoo Linux, and the "component" to
Ebuilds... then you should be able to change the assignment to games@gentoo.org
Hrm, nope, still won't let me change the assignment. :(
Nope, still shows as a static text display on my screen.

Added dedicated server files
This is the same as the above ebuild, but it also contains all the files and
setup for running an Enemy Territory dedicated server. :D It works now as it
should, so my work is through. I'm off to actually *play* my newly submitted
ebuild.
The third ebuild works very well for me (although I downloaded
et-linux-2.55.x86.run separately because the servers are slashdotted). Thanks.
Somebody close this bug... my bug (5-29) is apparently a "duplicate" of the
already commited bug #22152 (06-03)...
silly livewire, this is a game
