Been there for a while; will be needed for texlive (and should be the last one
that can go before the whole texlive ebuilds).

Testing with texlive, I note that to run the examples, I also need to have the
texlive-langcjk package; otherwise, lots of fonts are missing. Is this a
problem or not?

This is a good question; I'm enclined to say it's not a problem as you can
specify fonts you want in your documents (and thus have missing fonts if you
don't have 'em).
However, if you really can't process any single file without texlive-langcjk,
we could add this rdep: || ( texlive-langcjk tetex (I'm not sure it has more
fonts) ptex (which will most likely have lots of such fonts) )
I didnt do this since cjk-latex comes with a good bunch of fonts, I assumed it
doesnt really need more.

Sparc stable, this works as expected. The examples causing problems seem to
ask for fonts from texlang-cjk explicitly. So some of the examples assume the
langcjk fonts, but not all. I don't think cjk-latex needs more fonts, and I
don't know why its examples assume the availability of cjk fonts it doesn't
supply.
