The ebuild specifies:

elog "A sample configuration file for rtorrent is can be found"
elog "in ${ROOT}usr/share/doc/${PF}/rtorrent.rc.gz."

This should be:

elog "A sample configuration file for rtorrent is can be found"
elog "in ${ROOT}usr/share/doc/${PF}/rtorrent.rc.bz2."
