This is PowerPC64. If kde-base/qtjava-3.5.8 is being compiled with
ibm-jdk-bin-1.5 being installed it fails like this:
$ emerge qtjava
[...]
./configure [...] --with-java=/opt/ibm-jdk-bin-1.5.0.6 [...]
[...]
checking for Java... configure: error: libhpi.so not found under . Use
--without-java.
This happens because libhpi.so is not being included in 1.5.
libhpi.so is included in 1.4, so I change configure to use
--with-java=/opt/ibm-jdk-bin-1.4.2.9/ and it works.
I've already selected 1.4 as the system VM. configure still gets the path to
1.5 and not 1.4.
If I add JAVA_PKG_WANT_{SOURCE,TARGET}="1.4" to the ebuild it still does *NOT*
work, but I really don't know if that is supposed to fix it ;-)
Any suggestions?
# java-config -L

Well, on x86 even 1.4 doesn't have libhpi.so. I would say it's wrong that it
checks specifically for this internal library to detect a VM path...

System VM isn't build VM. See "Preferred VM" section in
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/java.xml
For a quick workaround, you can use JAVA_PKG_FORCE_VM=ibm-jdk-bin-1.4 emerge
qtjava
I tried the ebuild with the patch and it still failed, like so:
checking for Java... configure: error: libhpi.so not found under . Use
--without-java.
!!! Please attach the following file when seeking support:
!!! /var/tmp/portage/kde-base/qtjava-3.5.8/work/qtjava-3.5.8/config.log
*
Patch appeared to apply cleanly:
>>> Unpacking parts of kdebindings-3.5.8.tar.bz2 to /var/tmp/portage/kde-base/qtjava-3.5.8/work
* Applying no-gtk-glib-check.diff ... [ ok
]
* Applying qtjava-3.5-javacflags.patch ... [ ok
]
* Applying no_libhpi.so_check.patch ... [ ok
]
>>> Source unpacked.
>>> Compiling source in /var/tmp/portage/kde-base/qtjava-3.5.8/work/qtjava-3.5.8 ...
Shouldn't it need to run eautosomething after applying the patch?
I can *confirm* that latest patch and ebuild fixed the problem. If you want to
commit this to the tree, I can double check one more time. Else, close as you
see fit.
Confirmed here and fixed in cvs. Thanks.
