Enabling USE=wxwindows yields a failure during test suite. With disabled USE
flag, gnuplot-4.2.2 installs fine.
I'll attach complete build log.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set USE=wxwindows
2. emerge gnuplot-4.2.2 with FEATURES=test
3.
Forgot to mention that I use wxGTK-2.6.4.0-r1. Just in case this could be
related.
reported upstream, see URL field. Let's see what they tell.
We came to the conclusion that the failure is terminal specific and so highly
depending on the used system. If we can narrow it down to one specific plot
command, upstream will happily fix it (they have no problems). Unfortunately I
don't have time for that and thus disabled test suite with USE=wxwindows.
Thanks for your report and maybe you can find out what's going wrong.
So this means it is probably Gentoo-specific, doesn't it?
Saying this bug is solved is not true since the problem still exists. Are you
able to reproduce it or is it only on my box?
I do understand that you do not have the time to track this. I could try to
help there but I do not know where and how to start. Maybe you can give me a
short note what to do.
BR,
Dustin
If we do not can resolve this, correct status is CANTFIX. Do you agree?

No, as I did RESTRICT="wxwindows? ( test )" in the ebuild, which means:
Disable test suite (even if the user wants it badly) if USE=wxwindows is
switched on. So it is fixed from Gentoo's side of view.
The upstream bug is public and linked here, have a look. The failure can be
reproduced by me and has to do with the terminal, probably with a font size set
somewhere in the Gentoo system. Switching to PostScript output makes the test
suite run, so it is an obscure bug, happening on Gentoo systems but not
necessarily limited to it.
So you need to determine where exactly it does fail (upstream said they could
not locate it from the build.log), which part of the title is not fitting.
Then determine the plot command that sets that exact bit of the title.
Maybe you can work with stripping down the test suite (disable everything but
fit.dem and prerequisites) and play around.
