Patch nobbled from LFS, so I assume this affects Linux too.
As FreeBSD needs 2.17 due to 2.18 not being able to link pre-built firmware for
our kernels, both 2.17 and 2.18 should be patched.

Or just add the patch (18_all_binutils-makeinfo-version.patch) in 2.18-r1 to
2.17 for us BSD users - thanks!

This ebuild will incorporate a backported patch from 2.18 to fix this.

Note that we can fix binutils-2.17-r2 now with this patch, whereas bug #193364
has a slightly larger scope.  I recommend we get this change in to 2.17, since
we do not have 2.18 working yet on fbsd, and this issue blocks texinfo-4.11.

Reopening, since FreeBSD still cannot use binutil-2.18, and the backport of
this makeinfo patch would help us to re-unmask texinfo's new version.

the answer is the same ... i'm not going to backport texinfo version fixups to
multiple binutils
