Bug#: 195537 Product:  Gentoo Linux Version: unspecified Platform: All

Resolution: FIXED Assigned To: gentopia@gentoo.org Reported By: malte.zacharias@nordakademie.de

Summary: sys-auth/consolekit needs >=glibc-2.5

Description:   Opened: 2007-10-11 19:59 0000
According to the following thread it seems that sys-auth/consolekit does NOT
compile with glibc versions < 2.5. I am running Gentoo 2006.1 (I think) woth
glibc 2.4-r4:2.2. Emerging of any available version of consolekit doesn't
succeed. I am right now emerging a new version of glibc and will update this
bug to tell you whether it actually helped.

For further info please have a look at the last posts in this thread:
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-552961-highlight-.html?sid=f6268e2f14965bcf93e70f5255f7a59a

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
On a system with glibc < 2.5 emerge consolekit or gnome which has consolekit as
a dependency
Actual Results:

considering glibc 2.5 is stable on every platform... where's the issue? why
aren't you running glibc 2.5?

Because I didn't need it till today and during the process of emerging Gnome I
spent some time trying to figure this out. So I thought maybe portage should
reflect this dependency, if not at least to be consistent. As it seems it
definitely needs 2.4 and altohugh it's stable now that doesn't necessary mean
everybody uses it.

However bear in mind that this is my first bugreport and if this is due to some
reasons considered unwise or unwanted to add a versionized dependency in this
case I would understand.

Best regards,
Malte Zacharias

I added a specific depend in there for both versions in the tree.
