The summary says it all.  Please either mask and remove this package (it seems to be unsupported and undeveloped anymore) or add support to it for a more recent version of sys-libs/db (preferrably version 4).

The sys-libs/db dependency is just one of the db's this package can use. It is just as happy to use gdbm (I'm using that locally). 

I suggest changing the dependency to sys-libs/gdbm and close this bug.
