Andrea Merello, developer of this driver, has stopped to mantain it actively ad
this project seems dead (the developer has disappeared without leaving a note
behind).
Someone has forked the last svn version and started a new project here:
http://rtl-wifi.sourceforge.net/wiki/Main_Page
Acutally they haven't made a release but you could put an eye on them and wait
for a release to replace net-wireless/rtl8180 in portage.
IMHO net-wireless/rtl8180 should be hardmasked and removed from portage since
is a dead driver that doesn't actually work with recent kernels.
Reproducible: Always
This driver may be unmaintained, however the driver that is in the kernel (or
was the last time I checked) was *ONLY* for usb versions.... which is
unacceptable to some of us. I am working on getting rtl8180 working with .22+
Created an attachment (id=132868) [details]
proposed ebuild for rtl8180-0.22_pre20070719
This is just a copy of the rtl8180-0.22_pre2005052.ebuild, with deleted patches
for 2.6.19-2.6.20(I believe they're not needed).
Driver installs fine for me, with gentoo-sources-2.6.22-gentoo-r8 on a k6-2. To
install, use the tarball below (just a modification of Tharrrk's tar.bz2 above
with fixed path name)
Not tested - card isn't installed, will report later.
please reopen if no in-kernel driver in recent kernels works for you.
