Sorry for my bad english,
I have upgraded 2.6.19-r5 to 2.6.20-r6 and udev (i think) don't create my usb
micro device anymore....if I come back to 2.6.19-r5 then it's all right..the
micro usb is created..
I have upgraded with make menu config (not with make oldconfig) and I have no
answer on forum
The camera is ok but not the micro
Nothing interresting in my logs
I have the same issue with the new ubuntu (kernel 2.6.17 ==> 2.6.20...)
that's why I think there is a problem with the new stable kernel...
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.upgrading 2.6.19-r5 to 2.6.20-r6
2.
3.
Actual Results:
with 2.6.20-r6 :

Can you reproduce this problem on the latest development kernel, currently
2.6.21-rc7?

unfortunaly yes...I've tested with 2.6.20.7 and 2.6.21-rc7 and I've got the
same problem.
For the moment I keep 2.6.19-r5 in order to use my quickcam messenger's micro
jerome@laboussole ~ $ uname -r && ls -l /dev/sound/ && cat /proc/asound/cards

Please attach dmesg from an affected kernel, where the usb device has been
plugged in. Also post /proc/bus/usb/devices from a bad kernel and a good kernel
(both times while the device is plugged in).

dmesg and /proc/bus/usb/devices from both kernel
Hi and thank you very much for your help,
As you can see /proc/bus/usb/devices shows that the camera has no audio driver
..."01(audio) Sub=01 Prot=00 Driver=(none)" but snd_usb_audio is loaded
Please attach your 2.6.20 kernel .config and show the output of "uname -a"
while running the affected 2.6.20 kernel.

patch proposed on ubuntu by sergio martinez
I've just tested successfully this patch created by sergio martinez on the
ubuntu's bug report. It works!
My micro is ok now
Do I have to close this bug ?
Thanks for the info. Don't close it yet - give us a chance to review the patch,
ensure it gets accepted upstream, then backported into a gentoo release.
Patch accepted upstream. Fixed in gentoo-sources-2.6.20-r8, will fix in 2.6.21
for next release
great news !
thx a lot Daniel
please don't close this bug until it is fixed in the 2.6.21 branch
Fixed in gentoo-sources-2.6.21-r1 (genpatches-2.6.21-2)
