I was rebuilding this driver for kernel 2.6.20-gentoo-r6.
Philip, could you please try recompiling this with your LDFLAGS cleared (ie,
without the linker optimization) to see if that clears up the problem? If not,
please feel free to come back and open the bug. Thanks... 5:)
Please also attach the compile log uncompressed - make it easy for us to view
it.
I ran 4 tests.
With my kernel source tree (/usr/src/linux) set at linux-2.6.19-gentoo-r5,
it compiles with or without LDFLAGS set.
When I select the new linux-2.6.20-gentoo-r6 kernel tree, it fails with or
without LDFLAGS set.
build.log on its way.
Thanks for testing. Please confirm that alsa-driver-1.0.14_rc3 builds OK
I was running x86 stable alsa-driver, alsa-utils and alsa-headers, but
I added them to package.keywords for the purposes of this test.
headers and utils 1.0.14rc3 installed ok, but I got a build error
on drivers. i'll attach the build log.
one of the patches failed...

Actually, rc2 works with 2.6.20. I have just stabilized it (and alsa-headers)
for x86.
*** Bug 175171 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Please stable 1.0.14_rc2 versions of these packages:
media-libs/alsa-lib-1.0.14_rc2
media-sound/alsa-driver-1.0.14_rc2-r1
media-sound/alsa-firmware-1.0.14_rc2-r1
media-sound/alsa-utils-1.0.14_rc2-r3
media-sound/alsa-headers-1.0.14_rc2
media-plugins/alsa-plugins-1.0.14_rc2
After 1.0.14, we probably won't mark -rc versions stable again.
sparc already got there stable when we shipped 2.6.20:
alsa-tools-1.0.14_rc3
alsa-utils-1.0.14_rc2-r3
alsa-headers-1.0.14_rc3
alsa-firmware-1.0.14_rc3
just missed alsa-plugins-1.0.14_rc3 which is now stable.
and we don't dig alsa-driver :-)
confirmed fixed here on x86.
alsa-driver-1.0.14-rc2 compiles ok against 2.6.20-gentoo-r6 kernel source tree.
-lib and -utils are at -rc1 (x86 stable)
-headers and -driver are at -rc2 (x86 stable)
thanks all.

I've just upgraded to gentoo-sources 2.6.20-r6 and alsa-driver 1.0.14_rc2
emerge fails.
