Please test and stabilize app-editors/scite-1.72, it has been in the tree since
end of January with no bugs.

on x86:

i was not able to crash

app-editors/scite-1.72  USE="-lua"

easily ;-) the only thing i want to mention is a highly cosmetic issue:
selecting "Help-->SciTE Help" leads to:

"
>netscape "file:///usr/share/scite/SciTEDoc.html"
sh: netscape: command not found
>Exit code: 127
"
