running emerge rsync on my systems recently warns me that a new versionf of
portage is available. Checking via emerge world -up" says that portage version
2.0.47-r2 is installed, but 2.0.46-r12 is scheduled to be installed if I run "emerge world
-u" I've tried multiple rsync's to make sure I didn't sync from an out-of date mirror. Still
get the issue. decided NOT to re-emerge an older version of portage for fear that it
might cause more issues.
does portageand your rsync system use some sort of check-pointing to determine how
far out ofa data a mirror is with the central repository (like cvs) ? Waht happens when
someone rsync's to a mirro that is behind the times? (slow links or server misconfig)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge rsync
2.emerge world -up
Actual Results:
"emerge" displays:
[ebuild UD] sys-apps/portage-2.0.46-r12 [2.0.47-r2]
2.0.47-r2 is already installed, why would I want to downgrade?
Expected Results:
not have chosen to downgrade portage to an older release.
Portage 2.0.47-r2 (default-1.0, gcc-2.95.3, glibc-2.2.5-r2,2.2.5-r7)
