Elinks support 88 colors, in such terminals like rxvt-unicode. But Gentoo
ebuild doesnt support this option (maybe it will be good to enable useflags for
both 256 and 88 color support).

Fixed in CVS. Support for 88-color terminals is now enabled by default (support
for 256-color terminals was already enabled before).
