Something else in the same ebuild(s) :

You are advised to review the new configuration variables as
found in //etc/conf.d/net.example as there is no
guarantee that they will work in future versions.


There's no guarantee that the new configuration variables will work in the
future?  So why add them?  And then why review them?

When you take the line above that into account it makes sense
IE, the variables you are currently using in /etc/conf.d/net are deprecated and
not guaranteed to work in future versions. IE, the variables you have added
