Setting USE="-doc" fixes it. The driver part builds fine, but the documentation
fails:

I'll just remove the doc useflag, I admit I'm not sure which kind of
documentation is being built, but if you think it's important to have it in
Portage, I'd rather have it in a different package altogether.
