The new popt seems to install it's libs in /usr/lib6464 which breaks everything
that depends on it. Will attach a fix in a few moments.
Mein computar ist borken!
downgrading, back to dev-libs/popt-1.7-r1, at least solves the problem for the
moment here.

I've masked popt-1.10* till this issue is solved, it breaks rsync which is a
system package.
Ouch! Another one bitten by this. Just worked out what was wrong and thought
I'd be helpful and let everyone know, but appears others were way ahead of me
:)

Until this problem gets fixed, I have added /usr/lib6464 to my ld.so.conf, and
everything is running correctly. Luckily, compiz (gnome-window-decorator)
crashed before more things could get out of hand and break... if rsync and
things like that started breaking i'd be up you-know-what creek with out a
paddle.
Cheers,
~Kyle
