I can confirm that I tested SIMH version 3.6.1 with a Portage overlay. No change is needed from the 3.5.2 ebuild. All you have to do is: $ cp simh-3.5.2.ebuild simh-3.6.1.ebuild $ wget http://simh.trailing-edge.com/sources/simhv36-1.zip (then commit simhv36-1.zip to Gentoo mirrors) $ ebuild simh-3.6.1.ebuild digest Could someone commit this to Portage if they agree? SIMH 3.6 and later adds significant support for the VAX 11/780 system, which is necessary for booting early versions of VAX/VMS (amongst other things). If desired, the 3.6 and 3.6.1 changelog can be found here: http://simh.trailing-edge.com/changes36.html I can confirm this too, SIMH 3.6.1 compiling and running fine on x86. If a package mantainer is needed, I might be willing to do the work, although I don't really know what's required of a package maintainer :) I have just compiled simh-3.7.0 on x86 and seems to be working ok. Just --- # cp simh-3.6.1.ebuild simh-3.7.0.ebuild # ebuild simh-3.7.0.ebuild digest # emerge simh --- did the trick! I've added 3.7.0 to the tree. |
