The inkscape team is making pre-releases of the inkscape-0.44. This is the
ideal time to iron out bugs and we can update the ebuild for this new version
before it is released. It appaered that the patch for version 0.43 is no longer
needed. The changes are already incorporated in this release.
Some more comments: I also updated some dependencies in accordance with
http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/CompilingInkscape
I did not change the dependency on boehm-gc. The page above mentions
boehm-gc-6.6, which is not marked stable yet.
I did a few small tests and the prerelease seems to work fine.
This ebuild works on the pre3 version too, if you change MY_P inside.
Some comments based on the release notes:
* The effects USE-flag has become obsolete, since the configuration-option has
been removed, this is now always on
* There is mention of support for lcms, a new USE-flag should be added
I don't have time to make these changes now, I'll do them after my exams, if
no-one beats me to it ;)

0.44_p3 ebuild - doesn't work for me
I've modified the ebuild to use 0.44_p3, but it doesn't compile here. See the
next attachment for emerge output.
Are there any Perl packages missing?

The output of the failed emerge.
What causes this?
Already tried it with disabled distcc, ccache and reduced MAKEOPTS (-j2).

no, jabber/whiteboard is in heavy development by a SoC student in the 0.45
branch which is only svn as of now. this will also feature a dedicated solution
instead of the loudmouth library. on the other hand, consider 0.44 "the" stable
branch.
thanks for committing!
