Description Sebastian Noack 2006-04-09 05:48:48 UTC
Hi,

on bootup I get the message " * System.map not found - unable to check symbols" where the asterisk is yellow, so it is just a warning and I don't see any negative impact to my system since this occurs on each boot.

Currently I'm using the recent stable version of baselayout, 1.11.14-r6 with only the unicode-useflag enabled and I remember that this warning occurs the first time when I updated baselayout and a few other ebuilds which i don't remember.

My System.map file is at /usr/src/linux/System.map and /boot/System.map-2.6.16.1-s2. Maybe since version 1.11.14 of baselayout the System.map is expected somewhere else. Might that be?

Regards
Sebastian
