No crash for me with -Os on amd64 with gcc 4.1.0 so it might be a problem related to the compiler, rather. I get the same crash on my desktop when kdelibs were compiled with '-march=athlon-xp -Os -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer' (also gcc-3.4.5)

Well, gcc-4.1.0 is still hardmasked.
Can you please compile kdelibs with stable gcc and check behaviour again.
If it works with gcc-4.1.0 then maybe one should check for gcc version in the ebuild and disable -Os if necessary.
I can't downgrade gcc as that's going to be quite a problem, but maybe someone in KDE team has a system with GCC 3.4 to test with. Halcy0n, what's the timeframe for 4.1 now? Hopefully sometime in the next 2 weeks. I'd really like to get as many things patched before I unmask it. So help patch stuff and it will get unmasked quicker :) Sorry folks, but is the timeframe of gcc-4.1 really relevant for this? |
