I needed sphinx-0.6 for a project, and portage only goes to 0.4. I built a new
ebuild for 0.6, and it compiled beautifully. I am doing further testing to
make sure everything works ok. BTW - the gcc-3.4 patches needed for the 0.4
version are not needed for 0.6.
tested the ebuild by running the sphinx2-test script, as well as recording my
own speech file. Both scripts worked without a problem. My test speech file
was a recorded speech file with the words "one two three four", running through
the turtle vocabulary.
Hey David, a few comments about your package:
1) When submitting new ebuilds, we request that you leave the header
information in-tact. Please read this document for more information:
http://devmanual.gentoo.org/ebuild-writing/file-format/index.html
2) When it's just revision bumps similar to this one, it's not necessary to
repost the ebuild. I see you removed the epatch line, which means that "inherit
eutils" is no longer needed. Mentioning that the gcc patch is no longer needed
is sufficient, but I do thank you for pointing out that there was something
that needed changing.
Since removal of the "epatch" line is hardly something copyrightable and it is
abundandtly evident that the attached ebuild was modified from the original
script already copyrighted by the Gentoo Foundation, the header information has
been re-added and the version bump has been added to portage. Please remember
to add the header information next time, though. Thanks for the version bump!
Jon,
thanks for the pointers. This was my first ebuild mod, so I appreciate the
coaching. I have contributed a couple of other ebuilds, and have been using
the guide since then.
