Current stable version in portage is 0.2.1.1, from the mt-daapd website: "The
0.2.4 stable release works with iTunes 6.0.4 and is available from the "stable"
link at the left, or from the Sourceforge project site"
Instead of playing about with future version 3 "beta" ebuilds can the current
version first be stabilised.
Thanks
0.2.1.1 version is actually NOT working with iTunes 6 already...
I've added 0.2.4 today, but I don't think it can be marked stable because of
avahi requiring stable marking first.
So, rather, amd64 and x86 arch teams can eventually decide to drop stable
keywording of 0.2.1.1, leaving only 0.2.4 to be marked stable when avahi is
stable (so when mono is stable, too).
I can't test that it doesn't break itunes, but I tested that it compiled and
ran with most of the possible USE flag combinations on x86, and various linux
apps can get music from it fine.
(It does work with iTunes 6 on ~x86 though)

Thanks for testing David.
Stable on x86.
Compiles fine for me on amd64 and is running. I don't have the means to
actually test it (no itunes here, sorry, and I didn't find any *NIX client that
could use this one).
avahi has been stabilised on amd64 (bug 124293), so wen can go ahead and put
this to rest now^^
let's just hope for the best.
