No, thanks... we don't need file collisions w/ xpdf. Without that, there are problems to build abiword-plugins, specifically the pdf plugin, when using poppler>=0.5.0. Then file a new bug about abiword-plugins not working w/ >=poppler-0.5.0, include the error messages you get and post emerge --info. abiword-plugins can be emerged, the problem occurs with cvs HEAD. I'll just modify the poppler ebuild locally. (In reply to comment #4) > abiword-plugins can be emerged, the problem occurs with cvs HEAD. I'll just > modify the poppler ebuild locally. We don't support things installed from CVS. :) Please, file a bug about this upstream so that it can be fixed before next release - http://bugzilla.abisource.com/enter_bug.cgi I'll fix it myself in abiword, no need to file a bug report: pdf plugin will just not be built when poppler/xpdf headers are not installed. And it is an important feature, IMHO. And it is an > important feature, IMHO. Fixing it for yourself is not exactly useful or helpful for other users... When I say I fix it, I mean, I commit the changes to the CVS repository (I am an abiword contributor). Anyway, seems that the pdf plugin does not build when I emerge abiword-plugins. I check that and I'll report a bug eventually. (In reply to comment #8) > When I say I fix it, I mean, I commit the changes to the CVS repository (I am > an abiword contributor). Sorry then :) This shouldnt've been closed without going to the printing herd. Jakub: previous versions of poppler include the xpdf headers, they're located in /usr/include/poppler so there won't be any file collisions. So, can we please get the xpdf headers installed into /usr/include/poppler in poppler-0.5.0 Thanks. It's enough just to add --enable-xpdf-headers to econf line or EXTRA_ECONF. For the record, these headers are unsupported by upstream, and so are not likely to stay compatible from release to release. Couldn't abiword be changed to use the real poppler headers, like everything else poppler-based uses? Anyway, fixed in poppler-0.5.0-r1, so you can dep on that. |
