I enabled the BOOTLOADER="grub" option in /etc/genkernel.conf, which effectively wiped out my /boot/grub/grub.conf file to 0 bytes.  Luckily there was a grub.conf.bak.

I'm using "sys-kernel/genkernel-3.3.6".

Try 3.3.10, as this has already been resolved...
