Description Thomas J Ackermann 2005-12-29 11:31:46 UTC
While doing an "emerge --sync" I got this error message, plus the hint to report it as a bug - so here I am reporting it. I have also another problem, which may be related to this. Please see below.

>>> Updating Portage cache... /!!! Cannot resolve a virtual package name to an ebuild.
!!! This is a bug, please report it. (virtual/libstdc++-3.3)

****************** END BUG 1 ***************************

My Platform/Distribution:

Linux zeus 2.6.7-gentoo-r11 #8 SMP Sat Dec 6 12:05:22 CST 2008 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) MP 2400+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux

I cannot successfully perform an "emerge -u world", because it gives me this error message (which I have not been able to resolve, despite searching Gentoo support and outside Internet resources):

****************** BEGIN BUG 2**********************

!!! ARCH is not set... Are you missing the /etc/make.profile symlink?
!!! Is the symlink correct? Is your portage tree complete?

****************** END BUG 2 ***********************

Any help is greatly appreciated :-)

Thanks,
Thomas

Fix your profile and upgrade portage.
