Please mark linuxtv-dvb-headers stable.
It is a packat containing only a RDEPEND to have the headers of the
dvb-subsystem installed and is to simply get out the big or-dependencies of a
lot of ebuilds.
for example dvbsnoop, vdr, vdr-plugin.eclass, mplayer, xine and some more. (The
last two do not have a correct depend up to now, but they will need it too).

------- Comment #1 From Petteri Räty 2005-11-23 14:54:53 0000 -------
It is customary to assign bugs to yourself and add all the arch teams to CC.
That way the x86 arch team can remove itself although others are still left.

------- Comment #2 From Mark Loeser 2005-12-07 22:54:33 0000 -------
What hardware are we going to need to test this? Does anyone on the x86 team
have the hardware to do so?

------- Comment #3 From Joshua Jackson 2005-12-07 23:14:54 0000 -------
looking at the homepage of the package, the best bet seems to be someone who
has
a hauppauge card. However the standard 150-350 series cards (that most linux
users would go after) are not on the list. Heres a link to the supported cards:
http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/DVB_Card_Vendors . Anyone with the
hardware and willing to test?

------- Comment #4 From Matthias Schwarzott 2005-12-08 00:31:48 0000 -------
For testing one needs a DVB or ATSC card which is supported by the driver which
is included in Kernel 2.6 or provided external by media-tv/linuxtv-dvb.

@tsunam: You are right, Hauppauge 150-300 cards are for analog input (they have
an mpeg-encoder on board), DVB cards have no mpeg-encoder, they receive the
digital-stream from satellite/terrestric sender.

To test you can check wheather for example dvbsnoop-1.4.00 compiles and is
usable.
Problem: The test-case should best include a system with Kernel 2.4 as this is
what the second-case of the or-depend is for.

------- Comment #5 From Mark Loeser 2005-12-08 01:13:52 0000 -------
I talked to zzam about this and he's going to handle media-tv apps for x86
since
he has the hardware.

zzam: please make sure you do all testing with stable packages only. Thanks :)

marked stable
Thanks and sorry for the delay

------- Comment #7 From Matthias Schwarzott 2005-12-10 10:11:54 0000 -------
@alpha hppa ia64 ppc64 - arch teams:
Please keyword or mark stable this ebuild as it is going to be used as a
dependency of mplayer and eventually more media-programs.

If DVB is no topic on your arch please use.mask dvb in your profile(s).

Thank you
Zzam

------- Comment #8 From Matthias Schwarzott 2005-12-10 10:18:17 0000 -------
@alpha & ia64 - team:
This packet will also be a dependency of libdvb which has keyworded alpha &
ia64 in some versions.

------- Comment #9 From Markus Rothe 2005-12-17 13:28:05 0000 -------
added dvb to use.mask in ppc64 profiles. we don't have hardware to test this.

------- Comment #10 From Tim Yamin (RETIRED) 2006-01-03 13:54:26 0000 -------
Aron - does DVB hardware work on IA64? If not we could do with use.mask'ing
dvb. You originally added the ia64 keyword to libdvb so I'm adding you on to
confirm.

------- Comment #11 From Matthias Schwarzott 2006-01-10 22:53:19 0000 -------
@ia64 and alpha-team:
Please mark this ebuild stable to finaly be able to replace the ||-construct in
depend of media-tv/libdvb-0.5.5.
