One of my old favourites. It seems the package has not seen a revision since 
1997. So you might consider it stable... I tested on x86, hppa and ppc-macos. 
Works like a charm.

Slightly changed the ebuild (what was I thinking!!) and in CVS.

After lots of speculation and re-evaluation, I assigned app-text/an to no-herd.
