As of 2005-07-11, the BSD branch of madwifi merged with HEAD: "this brings a lot of features to the standard madwifi driver, including: - ad-hoc mode - power save mode - ad-hoc demo mode (pseudo ibss) - pure g mode (only allow G clients) - fixes for WPA - preparations for WME (untested) - and a lot of other bugfixes" madwifi-bsd should be removed from portage, and madwifi-driver and madwifi-tools should be bumped. The CVS as of two days ago is working fine for me as an access point on x86.
