<thetext>This is a slightly obscure problem.

I have a javaws application that requires a java 1.3 vm. I installed it under the javaws that comes with blackdown-jre-1.4.2-01-r2. When javaws first tried to start the application, it automatically installs a suitable java vm, but then dies silently when it tries to start the application.

Installing lib-compat solves the problem. Perhaps lib-compat should be listed as a dependency for blackdown-jdk (and blackdown-jre?).

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge blackdown-jdk
2. /opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.2.01/jre/javaws/javaws http://regi4.adm.ubc.ca/siscjnlp/sisc.jnlp
3.

Actual Results:
dies silently after installing j2re 1.3.1_13

Expected Results:
should have started the javaws application
