I have a javaws application that requires a java 1.3 vm. I installed it under the javaws that comes with blackdown-jre-1.4.2-01-r2. When javaws first tried to start the application, it automatically installs a suitable java vm, but then dies silently when it tries to start the application. Installing lib-compat solves the problem. Perhaps lib-compat should be listed as a dependency for blackdown-jdk (and blackdown-jre?).
