In the hal-0.5.x releases(which kde 3.5 uses I'm assuming), the fstab-sync option has been removed. Right now pmount is the method being used for automounting via hal and should be listed as a dep under hal support. cryos@gentoo.org 2005-11-25 07:21:09 0000 I don't see any reason not to add pmount as a dep personally, as this is effectively the only way to get automatic mounting now. It also works well with both 3.4.3 and 3.5.0. However it would have blocked the stabilisation of 3.4.3, and it is not essential for KDE to operate with hal.
