<thetext>Problem:
If the environmental variable LANG is not set the XML Editor will not display special characters like äöüߧ. The saved output contains the entity instead of the character.

Steps to reproduce:
- start the XMLEditor with no LANG set
- type any special character
- save the file
- see the output

reproduceable: always

effected versions: up to xxe-2.8_p1

Solutions:
- add warning to ebild or
- enforce setting LANG before start; 'LANG="en_US" xxe' has been tested with German characters (and works)</thetext>

<thetext>No, LANG was not set (fresh user account and no global setting).

The problem is known, it's explained in the FAQ section of the developers website (-> http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/user_faq.html#linuxlocale ).</thetext>
