Despite rebuilding both tiff and the applications themselves, transparent TIFFs just do not render correctly. Merging an older version would solve the problem, but I assume that this would again leave systems open to the TIFF vunerability. The window manager makes use of .tiff icons/images in lots of places which all appear without transparency. srcshelton@gmail.com 2004-12-28 08:37:05 0000 This was what caused me to notice this problem too - I use WindowMaker as my primary WM. I noticed that the icons is the dock no longer had transparency after the tiff upgrade. I confirmed this with eog, which was also unable to display transparent tiffs.
