Only after much headaches and searching did I find out that it was artwiz that did it (I looks for X configurations, Xdefaults files, nvidia driver problems...). The fact that artwiz changes the mouse cursor should be very clearly stated somewhere in the ebuild messages, and should probably be disabled altogether. Who wants to change their mouse cursor when they install some fonts? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge artwiz-fonts 2. Add "FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/artwiz/" to /etc/X11/XF86Config 3.
