            <thetext>In /etc/contab.daily, the default system installs two files: makewhatis.cron and slocate. Apparently, the .cron suffix is not required ... So I wonder whether it would be a good idea to name those files constistently either with or without that suffix? 

I&apos;m in favor of leaving it out.
