<thetext>The uid for distccd on my system is 1000, and 1004 on a friend's system. This
means that distccd gets exported via NIS no matter which (sensible) uid
threshold is used. Unless gentoo is so sOOp3r-l33t that it has more than
one-thousand system user ids, perhaps it should stick to convention and keep
system user ids below some sensible threshold? For instance under 1000, or
better, under 500? I remember when 100 was the cut-off, and it wasn't that long
ago.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Expected Results:
distccd uid < 500</thetext>
