I can confirm this behaviour, the thinice engine was added in the 24/6/2003. Solutions would either be to block gtk-engines-thinice, or prevent gnome-themes from building thinice and instead depend on the gtk-engines-thinice ebuild. I've removing gtk-engines-thinice from the package and depending on it, so we can't have conflicts anymore. Thanks Marius.
