            <thetext>1. Running xmame with the option &quot;-ctrlr HotRodSE&quot; has no effect.  The controls
remain as per the defaults and do not change to the hotrod controls.

2. It is possible to reconfigure the controls within xmame, but after quitting
the changes are not saved, and next time xmame is run it reverts to the default
controls again.</thetext>

            <thetext>The reason for problem (1) is that the directory xmame-0.74.1/ctrlr/ is not being copied to /usr/share/games/xmame/ctrlr during installation.</thetext>

as for (2), what happens if you run xmame as root and/or give g+w to the ctrlr directory ?</thetext>
